What To Expect From TPG’s (TPG) Q3 Earnings

Global alternative asset manager TPG (NASDAQ: TPG) will be reporting earnings this Tuesday before market open. Here’s what to look for.

TPG beat analysts’ revenue expectations by 5.2% last quarter, reporting revenues of $489.4 million, up 5.3% year on year. It was an exceptional quarter for the company, with a beat of analysts’ EPS estimates and a solid beat of analysts’ revenue estimates.

This quarter, analysts are expecting TPG’s revenue to grow 9.2% year on year to $499.3 million, slowing from the 39.8% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $0.57 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. TPG has missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates twice over the last two years.

Looking at TPG’s peers in the capital markets segment, some have already reported their Q3 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Blackstone delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 36.7%, beating analysts’ expectations by 6.6%, and Artisan Partners reported revenues up 7.8%, falling short of estimates by 0.9%. Blackstone traded down 4.4% following the results while Artisan Partners was also down 1.3%.

TPG is down 6% during the same time and is heading into earnings with an average analyst price target of $65.92 (compared to the current share price of $55.04).
