Smartmatic today announced that evidence clearly demonstrates Fox’s campaign of lies and defamation severely damaged the company and lauded recent Court decisions limiting Fox’s ability to distract from the core facts of the case.

“Fox lost this discovery battle before the Court even ruled, and the discovery that Smartmatic has already produced shows that Fox’s campaign of lies was the number one cause of Smartmatic’s injuries. Fox demanded discovery it wasn’t entitled to, then tried to spin its retreat as a win,” said Erik Connolly, legal counsel for Smartmatic. “Fox trying to blame anyone other than itself for Smartmatic’s injuries is just more lies from Fox. An Appellate Court decision this week granted Fox limited discovery to which Smartmatic had already agreed. A significant departure from Fox’s initial attempts to conduct broad-reaching discovery. In short, the Court affirmed Fox can have the information Smartmatic already said it would provide.
