Fiber Broadband Association to Showcase Latin America’s Expanding Fiber Opportunity at Fiber Connect 2026

LATAM-focused programs explore deployment models and infrastructure required for a successful connected future

The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) today announced dedicated programs at Fiber Connect 2026 that focus on the opportunities and challenges that exist in the Latin American (LATAM) and the Caribbean fiber broadband markets. These dedicated sessions and networking opportunities explore the region’s rapidly evolving fiber broadband landscape and the market potential it creates for the broader fiber ecosystem across the Americas.

With tens of millions of households across Latin America still lacking access to reliable broadband, the region represents one of the largest areas of global expansion potential for fiber deployment. Operators, technology providers, and infrastructure partners have an important collaborative opportunity for network expansion, digital transformation, and investment in data center and cloud infrastructure.

“This conference brings together leaders from across the Americas to examine how fiber networks are driving innovation, improving connectivity, and strengthening the digital infrastructure that supports modern applications like AI, cloud services, streaming entertainment, gaming, and telehealth,” said Liza Poe, LATAM Chapter President, Fiber Broadband Association. “Latin America is one of the most dynamic fiber markets in the world. Our programs at Fiber Connect provide a platform to explore shared challenges and strategies across the Americas, helping to advance the fiber broadband industry as a whole and deliver reliable connectivity to more communities.”

Fiber Connect 2026 will feature a pre-conference LATAM workshop on Sunday, May 17, with several sessions that highlight how service providers address connectivity gaps, optimize networks, and prepare infrastructure to support emerging digital services.

The session “Addressing the Gaps in Broadband Delivery” will explore deployment models that are successfully reaching underserved communities across Latin America and beyond, with speakers from Emerging International, Liberty of Puerto Rico & USVI, Ookla, and Telmex.

With network intelligence playing a central role in enabling better broadband experiences, Ookla will lead a presentation featuring network performance analytics and connectivity insights designed to help service providers optimize their networks, enhance digital experiences, and drive improved connectivity outcomes for customers.

The session “Fiber to the Data Center and Edge Compute,” featuring panelists from CommScope, Data Horizon Americas, and Telmex, will explore the fiber infrastructure needed to support hyperscale data centers, edge compute environments, and AI-driven applications that require high-capacity, low-latency connectivity.

The program will also feature a Fireside Chat on AI and Data Centers in Latin America, examining how regional investment in digital infrastructure is reshaping connectivity and creating new opportunities for service providers and technology partners across the Americas.

To encourage networking and collaboration among industry leaders, Fiber Connect 2026 will also host a LATAM Breakfast Meet Up on Monday, May 18, providing attendees an opportunity to connect with peers, exchange insights, and explore partnerships across the growing fiber ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean.

About the Fiber Broadband Association

The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) is the voice of fiber, helping providers, policy makers, and communities make informed decisions about how, where, and why to build better fiber broadband networks. FBA is the largest and only trade association that represents the complete fiber ecosystem of service providers, manufacturers, industry experts, and deployment specialists. Since 2001, FBA and its members have worked to advance fiber broadband deployment to accelerate innovation and increase quality of life by enabling every community to leverage the economic and societal benefits that only fiber can deliver. The Fiber Broadband Association is part of the Fibre Council Global Alliance, which is a platform of six global FTTH Councils in North America, LATAM, Europe, MENA, APAC, and South Africa.
