Firm’s name change to recognize achievements and contributions of partner and former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman

The Houston-based civil appellate and trial law firm Wright Close & Barger, LLP is pleased to announce it has changed its name to Wright Close Barger & Guzman, LLP, adding the name of partner and former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman.

Guzman, who joined the firm as a partner in 2022, is the first Latina to serve on the Texas Supreme Court and the first to hold a statewide office in Texas. Before serving on Texas’s highest civil court, she was a justice on the Texas 14th Court of Appeals and a Harris County District Court judge. In more than two decades on the bench, she ruled on thousands of civil and criminal cases and authored more than 900 judicial opinions.

With a focus on litigating civil cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts, Guzman uses her years of experience as a trial court and appeals court judge to provide unique and valuable insights regarding pending court cases, arbitration and mediation.
