GREENWICH, CT / ACCESS Newswire / June 17, 2026 / Greenwich Metals Inc. and Element Group SA announced the final closing of their definitive merger agreement on June 15, 2026, to create the diversified global commodities trading firm GMEA Commodities Inc. with capabilities spanning metals, raw materials, and energy markets.

The merger combines Greenwich Metals' expertise in trading a broad range of metals and raw materials with Element Group's energy trading expertise across crude oil, refined oil products, freight, as well as power and gas. The combined organization will provide clients with expanded market access, enhanced liquidity, and integrated risk management solutions across multiple commodity sectors.

"This merger marks an important milestone for both firms," said Doug Pratt, CEO of Greenwich Metals Inc. "By bringing together complementary trading platforms and market expertise, we are building a stronger and more agile organization positioned to capitalize on opportunities across global commodities markets."

Nino Mendiburu, Co-CEO of Element Group SA, added, "The connection between metals and energy markets is creating more diversification and new opportunities for clients and traders alike. Together, we will provide broader market intelligence and deeper trading and financing capabilities."

Gregor von la Valette, Co-CEO of Element Group SA, commented, "The combination significantly expands our global reach, creates significant synergies in front, middle and back office and strengthens our ability to serve counterparties across major commodity hubs worldwide."

The merged company will operate through offices in New York, Houston, Lima, São Paulo, Mexico City, Geneva, London, Singapore, Mumbai and Shanghai.

Whereas both firms will continue trading under their original names for now, the combined firm will focus on expanding its global trading footprint, enhancing analytics and market intelligence capabilities, and delivering efficient cross-commodity solutions to customers and counterparties worldwide.
