What Happened?

A number of stocks fell in the afternoon session after escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and climbing global bond yields dampened investor risk appetite.

Bloomberg reported renewed conflict between the U.S. and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz pushed crude oil prices sharply higher, reviving inflation concerns across global markets. At the same time, Bloomberg also reported global government bond yields reached multiyear highs as investors weighed the growing likelihood of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike in September.

Rising Treasury yields present significant headwinds for equity markets, particularly for high-valuation growth sectors, as higher borrowing costs can compress corporate profit margins and make fixed-income alternatives more appealing. Coupled with surging energy costs and macroeconomic uncertainty, the shift in interest rate expectations prompted broad-based selling across equity indices.

The stock market overreacts to news, and big price drops can present good opportunities to buy high-quality stocks.

Among others, the following stocks were impacted:

Zooming In On CrowdStrike (CRWD)

CrowdStrike’s shares are very volatile and have had 25 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 1 day ago when the stock gained 3.9% on the news that the company introduced its new Falcon IQ solution at Fal.Con 2026 alongside a series of platform integrations and strategic partnerships. At its Fal.Con 2026 event (the company’s marquee annual user and partner conference), CrowdStrike unveiled Falcon IQ, an automated workflow solution powered by NVIDIA Nemotron and Charlotte AI AgentWorks designed to secure frontier AI risk and operationalize Project QuiltWorks. Alongside the product launch, CrowdStrike partnered with CLEAR to integrate the CLEAR1 identity platform into Falcon, delivering high-assurance verification to combat identity-based cyber threats. The company also expanded its collaboration with Cognizant to launch Cognizant Cybersecurity for Operational Technology, powered by CrowdStrike Falcon for XIoT to protect industrial operations and mission-critical assets. In addition, Sublime Security integrated its email security signals directly into CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM to correlate email threat intelligence with broader telemetry. While CrowdStrike has positioned Falcon IQ as its automation layer, the integrations are what give it something to run on. If partners can assess, prioritize, and remediate frontier AI risk inside Falcon rather than stitching tools together, this could be a reason customers deepen Falcon adoption and other AI solutions provided by CrowdStrike.

CrowdStrike is up 88.6% since the beginning of the year, and at $213.90 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $231 from August 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of CrowdStrike’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $3,169.

ONE MORE THING: The $21 AI Application Stock Wall Street Forgot. While Wall Street obsesses over who’s building AI, one company is already using it to print money. And nobody’s paying attention.

AI chip stocks trade at ridiculous valuations. This company processes a trillion consumer signals monthly using AI and trades at a third of the price. The gap won’t last. The institutions will figure it out. You need to see this first. Read the FREE Report Before They Notice.
