This strategic initiative exemplifies Jule and Longo’s joint commitment to sustainability and represents a major leap forward in electrification infrastructure.
This brand-new high-speed EV Charging facility at Longo’s Oakville (338 Dundas St E), features a 660 kWh battery system that will seamlessly power up to seven (7) 150 kW DC fast chargers. This deployment is a testament to Longo’s’ dedication to providing convenient and sustainable amenities for its guests, underscoring its commitment to a greener future powered by innovative technology. “At Longo’s we are committed to minimizing our overall impact on the environment and do everything we can to ensure we fuel happier and healthier lives,” said Deb Craven, President, Longo’s. “Our partnership with Jule reinforces our commitment to Environmental Stewardship, one of our three Sustainability Pillars. The battery-powered EV chargers provide a significant opportunity for ourselves and our Guests to support renewable electrification.”
This transformative project is made possible through an investment in Longo’s , provided through Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP). NRCan’s contribution highlights the government’s commitment to advancing electric vehicle adoption and vital charging infrastructure development where it is most needed.
By joining forces with Jule, Longo’s exemplifies a shared vision of addressing the challenges of sustainability and embracing clean energy alternatives. “We’re making electric vehicles more affordable and charging more accessible where Canadians live, work and play,” said the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. “Investing in more EV chargers, like the ones announced today in Oakville, will put more Canadians in the driver’s seat on the road to a net-zero future and help achieve our climate goals.”
According to the Honourable Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board, “This first-of-its-kind battery-powered electric vehicle charging deployment here in Oakville will help make EVs more affordable and charging more accessible. Canada is a world leader in EV technology, and by partnering with experts like Jule and Longo’s, we’re ensuring high-quality infrastructure is in place to support our communities.”
Longo’s is committed to bringing value to its guests and determined that to electrify its Oakville location effectively level 2 chargers would not meet guest expectations or the growing needs of today’s EV driver. Therefore, they embraced level 3 chargers and installed the deployment which also provide power backup to the store. This shift will ensure that Longo’s guests will be able to charge their electric vehicles from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes, conveniently aligning with the average grocery shop time.
