Second transportation-focused acquisition announced in consecutive weeks expands Equal Parts’ trucking insurance capabilities and establishes a presence in Florida.

Equal Parts, the AI-native insurance platform redefining how independent agencies operate and scale, today announced the acquisition of Independence Insurance Agency, a Miramar, Florida-based brokerage specializing in transportation insurance.

The announcement follows Equal Parts’ acquisition of ProSource Insurance Agency, announced last week, marking the company’s second transportation-focused acquisition announced in consecutive weeks and further expanding its national capabilities serving trucking companies, owner-operators, and commercial fleets.

Founded by Co-Presidents Aaron Hollander and Luis Reyes, Independence was built around the belief that an insurance agency should work for its clients, not its carriers. The agency serves owner-operators, new ventures, small fleets, and established transportation businesses with insurance solutions tailored to commercial trucking.

“Transportation is exactly the type of market where specialization matters,” said Mike Witte, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Equal Parts. “With ProSource and now Independence joining the platform, we’re bringing together exceptional operators with deep transportation expertise and giving them technology, market access, operational support, and acquisition capital to grow.”

Independence combines transportation insurance expertise with a modern, systems-driven operating model focused on responsiveness, operational efficiency, and long-term client relationships. Hollander brings a systems-oriented approach to building scalable businesses, while Reyes brings a relationship-driven perspective grounded in communication and personalized client service.

“We started Independence to build an insurance agency that truly works for clients,” said Hollander and Reyes. “Equal Parts stood out because of the people, the platform, and the shared vision for building modern businesses. It is a technology-enabled ecosystem designed to remove operational friction, automate complexity, and allow agencies to focus on what matters most: serving clients.”

As part of Equal Parts, Independence will continue operating under Hollander and Reyes’ leadership while gaining access to proprietary technology, centralized operations, expanded carrier relationships, shared services, and acquisition resources.

“Two transportation acquisitions in back-to-back announcements isn't a coincidence,” said Mike Meller, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Equal Parts. “We believe there is a huge opportunity to connect specialized expertise across our platform. Every transportation agency we add brings new relationships, markets, and capabilities that can benefit customers and producers across the entire network.”
