ASHEVILLE, NC, September 07, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hundreds of people are expected to visit Olivette Riverside Community and Farm Oct. 8 for the CiderFest NC fundraiser benefiting Western North Carolina's Green Built Alliance.
The eighth annual CiderFest NC allows visitors to sample tastings of hard cider, mead, and apple wine, along with artisanal food, live music, workshops, a kids zone, and more at Olivette along the scenic French Broad River. The 411-acre community is the first and only "agrihood" in Western North Carolina built around a fully operational organic farm, and is known for its commitment to sustainable living and green building practices such as those championed by Green Built Alliance. After taking a break during the pandemic, the event is expected to draw another sell-out crowd.
When: Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Where: Olivette Riverside Community and Farm, 1069 Olivette Road, just 6.7 miles from downtown Asheville, NC.
What: Ticket holders receive a souvenir CiderFest NC 2-ounce glass that they can fill with samples from over 20 local cideries. In addition to tasting cider and mead, guests can enjoy free bites of artisanal food including local cheeses, baked goods, caramels, ice cream, and more. Food and merchandise will be available for purchase from a mix of local food trucks and art vendors. Again this year, a limited number of VIT (Very Important Taster) tickets offer advance entry to the event a full hour early beginning at noon to enjoy exclusive access to tastings from our cider- and mead-makers and artisanal food vendors before the crowds arrive. You may even have the opportunity to sample some specialty, small-batch, or limited-release ciders and meads that won't be available during the regular event. Click here for tickets and further info.
Why: CiderFest NC is a fundraiser hosted by Green Built Alliance in partnership with the NC Cider Association. Proceeds from ticket sales support the work of the nonprofit Green Built Alliance, which has been advancing sustainability in Western North Carolina since 2001 through community education, measurable standards, and regional action. A portion of proceeds will also be contributed to support the work of the NC Cider Association in promoting the success and popularity of the state's hard cider producers.
