"We delivered a strong third quarter with growth across brands, channels and geographies, while expanding margins year over year through disciplined execution of our brand strategies. The Crocs Brand delivered a record third quarter with revenues up 4%, led by double-digit international revenue growth and continued momentum across our product diversification strategy. HEYDUDE revenues grew 6%, marking an important milestone as we delivered on our commitment stated earlier in the year to return the brand to growth. These results reflect strong execution against our strategic priorities and reinforce our confidence in the trajectory of both brands. As a result, we are raising our full-year 2026 enterprise revenue growth outlook to approximately 3%," said Andrew Rees, Chief Executive Officer.

Revenue growth

Reviewing a company’s long-term revenue performance reveals insights into its quality. Even a poor business can perform well for one or two quarters, but a top-tier one grows for years. Over the last five years, Crocs grew its revenue at a 13.9% annual rate. Though this growth is acceptable on an absolute basis, revenue growth alone is not enough for the consumer discretionary sector, which can display significant earnings volatility. The bar for the sector is particularly high, reflecting the non-essential and hit-driven nature of the products and services offered. Additionally, the five-year compound annual growth rate starts around Covid, when revenue was depressed before rebounding.

Crocs quarterly revenue

Long-term growth matters most, but within consumer discretionary, a longer historical view may miss a company riding a successful new product or trend. Crocs’s recent performance shows its demand has slowed as its revenue was flat over the last two years. Crocs year-on-year revenue growth

The company’s constant currency revenue helps clarify its revenue dynamics by excluding currency movements that are outside its control and not indicative of demand. Over the last two years, its constant currency revenue averaged 1.6% year-on-year growth. This was in line with reported revenue growth, indicating that foreign exchange has not had a meaningful impact on revenue. Crocs constant currency revenue growth

This quarter, Crocs reported modest year-on-year revenue growth of 4.6% but beat Wall Street’s consensus estimates by 3.9%. Company management is currently guiding for an 8% year-on-year increase in revenue next quarter.

Looking further ahead, sell-side analysts expect revenue to grow 1.9% over the next 12 months, according to S&P. While this projection indicates its newer products and services will drive better revenue performance, it is still below the sector average.

Operating margin

Crocs’s operating margin has risen over the last 12 months and averaged 13.8% over the last two years. The company’s higher efficiency is a positive sign, but its suboptimal cost structure means it still has inadequate profitability for a consumer discretionary business.

Crocs trailing 12-month operating margin (GAAP)

In Q3, Crocs generated an operating margin of 28%, up 7.2 percentage points year on year. This increase was a positive development and shows it was more efficient.

Earnings per share

Revenue trends explain a company’s historical growth, but the long-term change in earnings per share (EPS) points to the profitability of that growth. For example, a company could inflate its revenue through excessive spending on advertising and promotions.

Crocs’s weak 13.3% annual EPS growth over the last five years aligns with its revenue performance. This tells us it maintained its per-share profitability as it expanded.

Crocs trailing 12-month EPS (non-GAAP)

In Q3, Crocs reported adjusted EPS of $3.69, up from $2.92 in the same quarter last year. That comfortably beat analysts’ consensus estimates. Over the next 12 months, Wall Street expects Crocs’s full-year EPS to grow 10.1% from $13.52 to $14.88, according to S&P.

Key takeaways from Crocs’s Q3 results

Crocs’s next-quarter outlook stood out, with EPS guidance well above analysts’ consensus estimates and revenue guidance also topping Wall Street’s consensus. This was a strong print with clear positives. Shares soared 19.3% to $142.52 immediately after the results.

Crocs may have had a good quarter, but that alone does not determine whether to invest. What happened in the latest quarter matters, but not as much as longer-term business quality and valuation when deciding whether to invest in this stock.
