What happened?
Shares of financial services company Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD) jumped 3.9% in the afternoon session after Rosenblatt Securities initiated coverage on the company with a Buy rating and a $135 price target, while Bitcoin rebounded sparking broad buying across cryptocurrency-linked equities.
Rosenblatt analyst Chris Brendler initiated the stock with a $135 target, implying approximately 37% upside over the previous session’s close, in research reported by StreetInsider and Investing.com. Brendler described Robinhood as a generational growth story that has evolved from a commission-free trading app into a comprehensive financial platform, citing market share gains in its core brokerage, accelerating international expansion, and Pattern Day Trading regulatory reform that lifts transaction constraints on active accounts. In a note to clients cited by Investing.com, Brendler argued that Robinhood deserves to trade at a valuation premium to slower-growing brokerage peers because its largely fixed operating cost structure allows incremental revenue to flow efficiently to earnings.
The shares were trading at $102.38, up 4.2% from the previous close.

What is the market telling us
Robinhood’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 55 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 9 months ago when the stock gained 14.9% on the news that a rebound in cryptocurrency prices lifted related stocks. Bitcoin recovered after an earlier dip, and this recovery pulled up shares of companies with crypto exposure, including Robinhood.
The positive move was also supported by broader bullish sentiment from market analysts. According to one report citing 21 analysts, Robinhood held a "Buy" consensus rating. That report also noted projections for a 30% increase in the company's top-line revenue by 2025, which was expected to be driven by a favorable regulatory environment for cryptocurrency that could boost trading volumes.
Robinhood is down 11.1% since the beginning of the year, and at $102.38 per share, it is trading 30.4% below its 52-week high of $147.08 from November 2025. Despite the year-to-date decline, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Robinhood’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $2,480.
