With her book, Midlife Transitions, Dr. Yolanda Serra Martinez invites women to explore what this chapter can hold and shape what comes next, one transition at a time.
San Antonio, United States (PRUnderground) October 27th, 2026

There is more to the midlife story. Alongside conversations about menopause and perimenopause are questions of identity, ambition, relationships and possibility: What matters to me now? What would I like to make room for? What do I want the coming years to hold?
In Midlife Transitions, health and behavioral scientist and health communication specialist Dr. Yolanda Serra Martinez invites women to explore those questions with curiosity, practical guidance and a sense of possibility.
Dr. Serra Martinez brings three decades of professional experience spanning public health, university teaching and personal mentoring of women to the page. The book translates that experience into thoughtful questions, practical tools and guidance for women exploring what this chapter of life can hold.
Midlife Transitions presents midlife as a stage with room for discovery, meaningful change and renewed connection to what makes life fulfilling. It also recognizes the realities that shape women's choices, including health, caregiving, work, finances and the needs of people they love.
"I want women to feel that there is something to look forward to in this chapter," said Dr. Serra Martinez. "There may be interests you want to rediscover, relationships you want to deepen or an idea you finally want to explore. The question is what matters to you now and how you can begin making room for it."
Through guided reflection and practical planning, the book offers a structured way to understand what is changing, clarify priorities and identify workable next steps. Readers are invited to consider both what they want to carry forward and what they are ready to approach differently.
"A vibrant midlife will look different for every woman," Dr. Serra Martinez said. "For one, it may mean a new professional direction. For another, closer friendships, a creative pursuit or more space in her days. This book invites you to explore your own possibilities, one transition at a time."
