AHF’s new EV mobile wellness unit will provide the community free access to testing and prevention services for sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV, as well as same day access to PrEP services and linkage to HIV specialty care. Through an onsite consultation with a medical provider, the unit will also provide immediate linkage to HIV medical care for individuals who test positive for the disease, and same day access to PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), an HIV prevention drug for those who are HIV negative.

Key Highlights of the EV Mobile Wellness Unit:

  • AHF is one of the first to adopt a fully electric platform for medical diagnostic services. Model refinement to move away from tradition model (engine + generator) to EV model (electric + solar), thus creating increased productivity, less setup time, generator dependency, power interruptions and mechanical interruptions.
  • This adoption creates savings by eliminating the need for fuel, routine maintenance for engine/generator and service-related items
  • Year to date, AHF has spent thousands in auto repairs on its traditional gas powered mobile vans across the country and looks now to reducing this, avoiding routine service for engine and generator, no catalytic converter, reduction in idle related issues, and charge through solar and outlet/EV charging
  • Lastly, this is a multifunctional vehicle with exam bed, phlebotomy, bathroom with sink and toilet, vaccination, centrifuge and processing area, fridge for storage, and insulated for clinical comfort and equipment stability
  • Will provide increased number of PrEP/STI panels
