Creole Studios, a custom AI agent development company, has completed development of CAMI, a real-time AI voice automation system built in partnership with SRGE to help contractors reduce missed calls and respond to potential customers faster.
Contractors and other field-based businesses often cannot answer every inbound call while working on-site, and a missed call frequently means a missed job, since callers who reach voicemail commonly contact the next available provider instead of waiting for a callback. CAMI addresses that gap by acting as a voice agent that answers calls directly, holds a live two-way conversation with the caller, collects structured information such as service type, location, and urgency, and generates an automated call summary and lead notification immediately afterward. For readers unfamiliar with the category, Creole Studios has published a general explainer on what an AI agent is and how it differs from a scripted phone menu or chatbot.
The system connects traditional telephony with conversational AI. Creole Studios built CAMI using Twilio Programmable Voice and Media Streams to receive and stream inbound audio in real time, paired with OpenAI's Realtime API to manage responsive, low-latency conversation. A Node.js, Express.js, and WebSocket-based backend handles audio buffering and conversation state, while GPT-4o-mini generates post-call summaries and tags. Conditional routing sends priority lead notifications through Twilio SMS and AWS SNS, and the system was deployed on AWS using ECS Fargate, CDK, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudWatch, with GitHub Actions managing continuous deployment.
One engineering requirement stood out during development: supporting multiple contractor clients from a single backend. CAMI was built with a multi-tenant configuration, giving each contractor separate prompts, conversation logic, and routing rules within an isolated structure, rather than a one-off build serving a single client. Creole Studios delivered and validated the production-ready system, including live-call testing, transcript and recording storage, summaries, tagging, and notifications, within approximately two and a half months.
A representative from SRGE's CAMI team described the system as "a reliable production-ready AI voice system," adding that Creole Studios managed the technical complexity of real-time telephony, AI integration, and AWS deployment, and that the project was delivered and accepted on schedule, giving the company a foundation to continue building on.
For SRGE, the completed MVP established a stable base for further development, including tenant-specific behavior, more advanced call routing, and additional automation workflows beyond the initial call-handling scope. More broadly, the project illustrates a practical application of AI agent development for an industry field services and contracting where missed inbound communication has a direct and measurable cost, and where earlier generations of phone automation, built around rigid menu trees, generally failed to capture enough information to act on. A full breakdown of the project, including the technical architecture and outcomes, is available in Creole Studios' CAMI case study.
Creole Studios applies similar real-time conversational architecture across other voice-based use cases, including appointment scheduling and customer support, and extends comparable AI agent development techniques into other sectors with different accuracy and compliance requirements, including a recent healthcare AI agent development company project supporting a medical education platform.
