Earnings To Watch: AT&T (T) Reports Q4 Results Tomorrow

Telecommunications conglomerate AT&T (NYSE: T) will be announcing earnings results this Wednesday morning. Here’s what investors should know.

AT&T met analysts’ revenue expectations last quarter, reporting revenues of $30.71 billion, up 1.6% year on year. It was a mixed quarter for the company, with a narrow beat of analysts’ EBITDA estimates but a miss of analysts’ Mobility revenue estimates.

This quarter, analysts are expecting AT&T’s revenue to grow 1.5% year on year to $32.79 billion, in line with its flat revenue from the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $0.47 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. AT&T has missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates four times over the last two years.

Looking at AT&T’s peers in the consumer discretionary segment, some have already reported their Q4 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Nike posted flat year-on-year revenue, beating analysts’ expectations by 1.7%, and Carnival reported revenues up 6.6%, falling short of estimates by 0.6%. Nike traded down 10.5% following the results while Carnival was up 13.6%.

Investors in the consumer discretionary segment have had steady hands going into earnings, with share prices flat over the last month. AT&T is down 4.9% during the same time and is heading into earnings with an average analyst price target of $29.48 (compared to the current share price of $23.54).
