Live on Kickstarter, RunSafePRO is a connected safety vest with rear radar alerts, GPS panic response, automatic incident detection and adaptive 360° visibility.

-- RunSafePRO, a revolutionary new smart safety vest designed for runners, walkers, cyclists, and outdoor athletes, is currently live on global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and a breakout crowdfunding success story having already raised over 100% of their initial raise goal in under a week.

Combining rear radar detection, GPS emergency response, automatic incident detection, and adaptive 360-degree visibility in a single lightweight wearable, RunSafePRO was created to help users feel more confident when exercising alone. Unlike traditional safety devices that require active monitoring or manual interaction, the vest operates automatically in the background while users focus on their workout.

“What struck us is that people were already changing their behavior before they even started a workout,” says Peter Pompen, co-founder of RunSafePRO, on the inspiration behind the project. “Different routes, avoiding certain areas, deciding not to go out alone. That feels like a contradiction for an activity that is supposed to be about freedom. That is what we wanted to fix.”

The launch comes amid growing concerns about personal safety among runners and outdoor athletes. Recent surveys have found that safety concerns increasingly influence when, where, and how people choose to exercise, particularly among women. RunSafePRO was developed over a two-year period to address those concerns through technology designed to provide greater situational awareness and faster emergency response.

Designed to operate in real time without interrupting the user’s activity, RunSafePRO helps users stay aware of their surroundings while staying focused on their workout. When the vest detects a vehicle or cyclist approaching from behind, it alerts the wearer through vibrations and integrated lighting, even while headphones are being used. If the system detects a potential emergency and the wearer becomes unresponsive, emergency contacts can automatically receive GPS location information without requiring manual intervention.

Key Features of RunSafePRO:

  • Rear Radar Detection: Alerts users when vehicles or cyclists approach from behind.
  • GPS Panic Button: Sends emergency GPS alerts to designated contacts when assistance is needed.
  • Automatic Emergency Detection: Monitors for potential incidents and can automatically notify emergency contacts if a wearer becomes unresponsive.
  • Adaptive 360-Degree Visibility: Helps users remain visible from all directions in changing outdoor conditions.
  • Vibration and Light Alerts: Provides awareness notifications that remain effective even when users are wearing headphones.
  • Performance-Oriented Design: Lightweight, breathable, and designed to feel like athletic apparel rather than traditional safety equipment.
  • Adjustable and Washable Construction: Built for running, walking, cycling, and other outdoor activities.
  • Connected Safety Platform: Supports GPS emergency messaging and allows users to configure up to 50 emergency contacts.

According to the company, the goal was never to create a product driven by fear, but rather one that helps people regain confidence and freedom while exercising outdoors.

“We did not want this to feel fear-driven,” adds Pompen. “That was important to us from the start. It is really about people feeling comfortable again when they move alone. That is the whole point.”

Early-backer pricing for the campaign starts at $119, compared to a planned retail price of $175.
