Selected unanimously by the judging panel, this award recognises emerging brands demonstrating exceptional commitment to sustainability, commercial potential and responsible growth.
Founded by Claire Turner, Alpaca Apparel champions a slower, more intentional approach to fashion. Each garment is crafted from 100% UK alpaca fibre, sourced from the brand’s own herd and trusted British partner farms, and produced exclusively through UK mills. The Drapers judges praised the brand’s clarity of mission, regenerative farming ethos and its ability to scale responsibly while maintaining fibre quality and transparency. This recognition marks a milestone for British natural fibres, highlighting the growing demand for ethical luxury, traceable craftsmanship, and locally rooted production models.
Speaking after the event, founder Claire Turner commented the following:

The Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards first launched in 2020, and the 2026 iteration was the biggest yet. It boasted a 114-strong shortlist of finalists across the various categories, a perfect demonstration of the boom in luxury sustainable fashion throughout the UK. Each year, the ceremony takes on more importance, and it is now seen as one of the most prestigious fashion awards in the country.
This is the first time that Alpaca Apparel has won an award from this ceremony, and the brand is eager to build on this success and return next year to compete for more.
