The processor integrates six Arm Cortex-A55 application cores alongside Cortex-M7 and Cortex-M33 real-time processors, enabling a heterogeneous architecture capable of supporting both high-level software workloads and real-time control tasks.
In addition to CPU processing, the processor includes the integrated eIQ Neutron Neural Processing Unit, which accelerates machine learning inference tasks such as object detection, image classification, and sensor data analysis. This dedicated neural processing capability allows AI models to run efficiently on-device while minimizing CPU load and power consumption.
Such architecture enables edge systems to process sensor data, video streams, and AI models locally, reducing dependence on cloud connectivity and enabling faster decision-making.
Modular AI Acceleration for Scalable Edge Intelligence
One of the defining features of the APC888 platform is its modular AI acceleration architecture.
In addition to the integrated neural processing unit, the system includes an M.2 slot designed for AI accelerator modules, allowing developers and system integrators to expand AI performance according to application requirements.
The platform supports accelerator modules from companies including Hailo, MemryX, Kinara, and DeepX. Depending on the selected module, the system can deliver up to 40 TOPS of AI inference performance, supporting demanding workloads such as multi-camera video analytics, machine vision inspection, robotics perception, and intelligent retail analytics.
