Award recognizes TradeStation MCP, which enables traders to connect AI tools with live brokerage accounts and real-world trading workflows

TradeStation Securities, Inc. (“TradeStation”), the brokerage firm built for active equity and derivatives traders, today announced that it has been selected as the winner of the “LLM Application of the Year” award in the 9th Annual AI Breakthrough Awards program. This recognition reinforces TradeStation's commitment to empowering active traders with the advanced tools they need to connect AI to their real-world trading workflows in a meaningful way.*

The awards program is a key part of Tech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence and recognition platform for global technology innovation and leadership. With nearly a decade of experience in the global AI industry, the AI Breakthrough Awards program shines a spotlight on the boldest innovators and most impactful technologies leading the charge in AI across a comprehensive set of categories – with past winners including NVIDIA and Databricks.

TradeStation was selected for its Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables large language models (LLMs) to connect to TradeStation brokerage accounts through a defined, permissioned API layer. AI Breakthrough’s multi-stage judging process evaluates entries on innovation, performance, ease of use, functionality, value and impact. Entries are reviewed by an expert judging panel and scored within their respective categories, with innovation and impact among the factors that may receive additional weight in final considerations.

Through MCP, users can interact with their account data conversationally, including balances, positions, and pricing information, within established permissions and controls.

Unlike standalone chatbots or static analysis tools, TradeStation MCP is designed to bring AI into practical trading workflows. The technology allows traders to use natural language to analyze portfolios, review trading activity, evaluate risk exposure, generate performance summaries, and explore strategy development using their own account context. By connecting LLMs to live brokerage infrastructure in a permissioned way, TradeStation highlights how AI can move from experimental use cases to real-world utility for active traders.

“AI is part of how traders research markets, evaluate strategic opportunities, and manage their workflows, but the real value comes when these tools are connected to the infrastructure traders already rely on,” said John Bartleman, President and CEO, TradeStation Group, Inc. “TradeStation MCP was built to make LLMs more useful and controlled for active traders. This recognition from AI Breakthrough reflects our continued focus on innovation and our commitment to giving self-directed traders more powerful ways to interact with the markets.”

TradeStation’s MCP connection is now available to eligible customers.* To learn more about MCP, visit https://www.tradestation.com/platforms-and-tools/mcp/.
