Named “ELT Platform of the Year” by Data Breakthrough and Recognized in CRN AI 100 for AI Data and Analytics, plus independent study reports 239% return-on-investment

Airbyte, creator of the open data movement platform, today announced the release of Airbyte 2.1, along with industry recognition for its role in powering enterprise AI and agentic AI systems with trusted, production-ready data infrastructure.

Also, the company released results of an Airbyte commissioned Forrester Consulting Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study that showed: a 239% return-on-investment (ROI); improvements in data reliability and quality; simplified compliance and regulatory reporting; plus, faster and more informed decision-making as data ingestion and management is standardized.

The study findings are based on four organizations' experience using Airbyte. Those are aggregated to form a composite organization that showed over a three-year period a 60% productivity lift when building pipelines and a 40% productivity lift when maintaining pipelines. The Forrester study is available here.

The latest Airbyte update improves scalability, deployment flexibility, governance, observability, and operational reliability, which helps organizations manage increasingly complex data pipelines that can be used for AI applications. The update follows a series of industry recognitions, including being named “Data Integration and Warehousing / ELT Platform of the Year” by Data Breakthrough Awards and inclusion in the 2026 CRN AI 100 list of the hottest AI data and analytics companies.

Airbyte 2.1 builds on the company’s strategy of becoming the operational data movement layer for modern AI infrastructure, enabling enterprises to continuously connect trusted operational data to cloud data platforms, vector databases, large language models (LLMs), and AI agents.

“This product update addresses the need for scalable, enterprise-grade infrastructure that can move and govern data across increasingly distributed AI and analytics environments,” said Michel Tricot, CEO and co-founder of Airbyte. “We are building the infrastructure layer that connects enterprise systems to AI in a reliable and operationally sustainable way.”

The new Airbyte 2.1 delivers:

  • Improved performance and scalability for large enterprise deployments;
  • Expanded enterprise governance and operational controls;
  • Enhanced self-managed deployment capabilities;
  • Additional reliability and observability improvements for production pipelines;
  • Expanded support for modern AI and analytics architectures;
  • Connector and synchronization improvements across structured and unstructured data sources.

The update continues Airbyte’s investment in AI-native data infrastructure as organizations increasingly deploy AI copilots, autonomous agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and vector search architectures. That requires infrastructure capable of continuously synchronizing operational data across fragmented enterprise systems.

Airbyte enables organizations to unify data movement across databases, SaaS applications, APIs, warehouses, data lakes, and vector databases through hundreds of pre-built connectors and extensible integration capabilities. Airbyte 2.1 is designed to simplify operations for platform engineering, data engineering, and AI infrastructure teams managing production-scale data movement environments.

The release builds on Airbyte’s broader strategy around agentic AI infrastructure. Last month, the company launched Airbyte Agents, which allows autonomous AI agents to securely connect with external enterprise data systems at scale.

Industry Recognition

According to CRN, Airbyte was recognized in the AI Data and Analytics category because of its growing role in enabling AI applications through secure, scalable data movement and management infrastructure. The publication highlighted Airbyte’s Agent Engine initiative, vector database support, and its transition to a capacity-based pricing model designed to make AI and analytics costs more predictable for enterprises operating large-scale data and AI workloads.

The Data Breakthrough Award further underscores the growing importance of data infrastructure in enterprise AI adoption. The annual awards program recognizes technology companies driving innovation across cloud, AI, cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and analytics markets.
