“50 Years of Truth,” now available on Primos’ YouTube channel, is a retrospective look at the company’s origins, its influence on modern hunting media and the people who helped shape the brand over the past five decades.
The film, now available on Primos’ YouTube channel, centers on founder Will Primos and traces his lifelong connection to the outdoors, beginning with his childhood in Mississippi, where he first crafted turkey calls and developed a passion for hunting. What started as a personal pursuit — experimenting with homemade calls to become a better hunter — eventually grew into one of the most recognized brands in the hunting industry when he launched Primos Hunting in 1976.
“50 Years of Truth” explores the early days of Primos, when Will and a small group of friends and family set out not only to hunt, but to capture those experiences on film. In the late 1980s, the group hauled bulky cameras into the woods to document real hunts as they happened. Their goal was simple: to show hunting the way it unfolds in the field.
That effort led to the creation of an iconic video series titled “The Truth,” as the footage revealed the realities of hunting. The series would go on to influence hunting media by portraying the full experience of the hunt, including the patience, missed opportunities and moments of success that come with time in the woods.
“From the very beginning, Primos’ goal with the TV show was simple: show hunting exactly the way it happens,” said Anthony Foster, Operations Manager for Primos and a 23-year veteran of the brand. “That meant the successes, the misses and all the moments in between. Those are the things that make hunting real, and that’s what we’ve always tried to share with people. This film is a look back at where we came from and a reminder that our brand has always been about telling the truth about hunting and passing that experience on to the next generation.”
Through archival footage and interviews, “50 Years of Truth” highlights the values that have defined Primos for decades: authenticity, respect for wildlife and the camaraderie of enjoying the great outdoors with family and friends. Alongside the brand’s storytelling legacy, the film also reflects on Primos’ evolution from handcrafted game calls into a global hunting brand known for innovation across a wide range of gear and equipment.
“50 Years of Truth” was produced by Sicmanta, the Wisconsin-based creative agency whose filmmaking team — led by the company’s founder, Donnie Vincent, and his creative crew headed by Kyle Nickolite — beautifully captured the spirit and ethos of Primos and its founders. Through their perfect blend of imagery and narrative, Sicmanta did more than make a film; they created a cinematic celebration worthy of the treasured brand. They honored the founders’ passion and drive to design and make the highest-quality game calls and hunting accessories anywhere.
The release is another way Primos is commemorating its 50th anniversary of legendary calls and critical conservation work, a celebration that began in February at the National Wild Turkey Federation Convention & Sport Show with the film’s premiere.
Primos has also unveiled a brand refresh, including a new logo and website design, and will continue to debut new products, storytelling initiatives and moments that honor the hunters and traditions that made the brand what it is today.
