Outperformed other vendors in 13 of 18 KPIs

Verisma, the trusted leader in health information lifecycle management (HILM), was named the top vendor for release of information (ROI) and HILM for the eighth consecutive year in the annual Black Book Research Release of Information Client Survey.

Verisma outperformed other ROI/HILM vendors in 72 percent (13 out of 18) of the key performance indicators (KPI) that Black Book uses to determine its rankings: compliance, accuracy, governance, automation, integration, value, security, reporting, consistency, and trust. Vendor-agnostic, Black Book Research surveyed 2,317 industry professionals to reach its conclusions and rankings.

“We are gratified that Black Book, and the healthcare leaders it surveys, holds Verima’s solutions in such high regard,” says Marty McKenna, President and CEO. “We are committed to ensuring that the operational workflows around ROI function seamlessly.

“Verisma recognizes the strategic importance of managing the entire chain of patient information efficiently and compliantly, to support clients’ mission-critical patient care and reimbursement goals. To that end, we are thoughtfully and purposefully investing in AI and automation to deliver the greatest value possible.”

In its report, Black Book urges healthcare leaders to regard 2027 as a critical “implementation year” for ROI/HILM systems. It notes that payer API requirements take effect, electronic prior authorization becomes a provider reporting expectation, information-blocking scrutiny is increasing, and claims-attachment compliance has a fixed 2028 deadline.

In addition, Black Book researchers remind providers that enforcement of Part 2 of Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations dealing with the release of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records is also active. Delaying ROI/HILM implementation beyond 2027, the report notes, will force providers into a defensive stance, responding to deadline-driven compliance remediation.

“ROI/HILM enters 2027 as the control layer between the clinical record, patient rights, payer transactions, regulatory obligations, and external demand for health information,” says Doug Brown, Founder of Black Book Research. “Verisma continues to earn unmatched trust by not only helping clients streamline daily ROI functions, but by likewise addressing the enterprise-wide demands of managing the entire health information lifecycle.”
