Exelon Announces Additional $10 Million Contribution to Customer Relief Fund, Supporting Customers as Winter Weather Drives Higher Energy Use

Exelon (Nasdaq: EXC) today announced an additional $10 million contribution to its Customer Relief Fund, strengthening support for communities as cold weather drives up energy demand and costs remain high.

The contribution brings Exelon’s direct customer assistance efforts to address energy affordability to $60 million in the past year. Exelon does not control or profit from increasing energy supply costs, a key driver of increased costs on customer bills.

Each of Exelon’s operating companies — Atlantic City Electric, BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power, PECO and Pepco — receive a portion of the contribution, which will be administered by trusted local nonprofits. Funding amounts, eligibility criteria, and delivery methods will vary by service territory to reflect local needs.

“People are frustrated by rising costs, and we share that frustration, especially as cold weather sets in,” said Exelon President and CEO Calvin Butler. “We’re proud to step up and help in the short term, but let’s be clear: unless we act now to tackle the supply and demand challenges driving this affordability crisis, energy costs will keep climbing. Doing nothing is not an option.”

Alongside the Customer Relief Fund, Exelon is pushing for long-term solutions to the affordability crisis, including market reforms and utility-generated power to address supply and demand challenges.

The additional Customer Relief Fund contribution complements Exelon’s broader affordability efforts, including year-round customer assistance programs, bill management tools, energy efficiency initiatives, and long-term solutions focused on enhancing energy supply to ensure more affordable, reliable service.

Additional details about local grant programs and our work with local nonprofits will be announced in the coming weeks by Exelon’s operating companies.
