The Natural Refrigerant Training Summit is part of R-TRADE, the nonprofit’s workforce development initiative to improve technician recruitment, training and retention.
The North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to advance climate-friendly natural refrigerants in supermarkets, has opened registration for the 2025 season of the Natural Refrigerant Training Summit series. The free events offer comprehensive training for refrigeration technicians on the latest CO2 and propane technologies.
- March 25 – 27 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, co-hosted with Steamfitters Local 449.
- April 22 – 24 in Irwindale, California, co-hosted by Southern California Edison.
- May 20 – 22 in St. Paul, Minnesota, co-hosted by Steamfitters Pipefitters Local 455.
Each three-day event includes classroom and hands-on training for refrigeration technicians. The first two days feature concurrent rotating training from manufacturers and other industry experts. On day three, technicians can further their knowledge at a half-day advanced CO2 workshop.
“The Training Summit series is a cornerstone of our R-TRADE program, supporting the technicians who are the backbone of our industry,” said Morgan Vanzo, senior director of NASRC. “Providing free access to cutting-edge training ensures our workforce is prepared for the ongoing transition from HFCs.”
Each event will include a Cool Futures refrigeration career fair, where HVACR students can learn about career opportunities, connect with employers and network with technicians.
The three events are free of charge thanks to the generous support of premium event sponsors Albertsons, Amazon, BITZER US, Climate Pros, CoolSys, Copeland, Costco, Hillphoenix, Kroger, The Arcticom Group and Walmart.
