Clinical Case

Basic Information

Patient Name: Zhu, Female, 50 years old, from Chongqing.Patient’s Complaint: Sustained left heel pain and swelling due to a fall injury. The patient reported persistent severe sharp pain in the left heel, which was aggravated by active and passive movement of the affected area. She was unable to stand or walk, and thus sought medical attention at a local hospital.

Auxiliary Examination CT scan:Comminuted fracture of the left calcaneus with obvious separation and displacement of the fracture fragments, and significant widening of the calcaneus.

Primary DiagnosisThe patient was unable to stand or walk. Combined with CT findings and clinical manifestations, she was admitted with a diagnosis of left calcaneal fracture.

Treatment Plan: Conservative treatment has a poor prognosis; surgical indications are definite.Surgery: Open reduction and internal fixation + bone grafting for comminuted fracture of the left calcaneus using the Beijing Zhong’an minimally invasive calcaneal locking plate.
