Fort Lee, New Jersey – Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi, P.C. has hired trial attorney David Wendel, who has spent more than 35 years representing people hurt in accidents. Wendel joins the firm as an associate and will handle personal injury cases for clients in northern New Jersey.

Wendel has worked on the plaintiff’s side for his entire career. He handles cases from the first client meeting through investigation, discovery, depositions, settlement talks, trial and appeal. His practice covers motor vehicle and trucking crashes, construction accidents, premises liability claims, slip, trip and fall injuries and dog bites.

Over the years he has obtained multiple settlements and judgments for injured clients in the $1 million range. The Best Lawyers in America has recognized him in Personal Injury Law each year from 2024 through 2027.

“David has been trying cases for a long time, and you can see it in how he prepares,” said Christopher DiGirolamo, managing partner at Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi, P.C. “Our clients are usually dealing with serious injuries and an insurance company that doesn’t want to pay what the case is worth. He knows how to build a file that holds up in front of a jury, and that’s what they need.”

Wendel said the move made sense because the firm handles the same kind of work he always has.

“I’ve been on the side of injured people my whole career, and that isn’t changing,” Wendel said. “That’s the only work this firm does. People here know the courts, they know the community, and they take the time to get a case right. That’s how I want to practice.”

Wendel earned his law degree from American University Washington College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Trucking and construction cases, two areas Wendel focuses on, often involve several insurers, contractors or carriers. These claims tend to depend on early investigation, since records, vehicle data and site conditions can change or disappear within weeks of an incident. Wendel’s background in both areas adds trial experience to the firm’s existing trucking and construction accident practice.
