Founded by Latina restaurateurs and longtime Adams County residents whose families and traditions shape the menu, LatinA Flavor Café will officially open on Monday, Sept. 8, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The celebration will feature a full day of family programming, cultural experiences and food that honors authentic Puerto Rican and Salvadoran roots.

Led by co-founders Melba Velázquez, founder of Tres Leches Treats and sisters Karen and Odila Colato, founders of Sivar Café, LatinA Flavor brings decades of culinary expertise and cultural connection to this new community space. The two first met while working in the Adams County school system and have been connected with Anythink Libraries for more than 15 years.

That makes Anythink Wright Farms a natural home for their flagship café, having won the library’s vendor proposal process.

“LatinA Flavor is how we share our families’ kitchens with the community we love,” Melba said. “Every plate supports our livelihood, but it also celebrates our roots, the stories behind each recipe, and the bonds we’ve built here in Adams County.”

LatinA Flavor Café’s tradition-rooted, nostalgic menu offers gluten-free pupusas in classic varieties priced affordably at just $2–$3 each. Guests can also enjoy desserts like pineapple and cherry, piña colada cake, triple berry, tres leches and almond cake, along with fresh aguas frescas and a simple coffee and treats menu.

“When people bite into a pupusa or taste our tres leches, we want them to feel the warmth and nostalgia of sitting at their grandmother’s table,” Karen said. “Food is a universal connector, and this café gives us a chance to share the traditions and flavors of Puerto Rico and El Salvador with the entire community, starting with Anythink Libraries.”

The grand opening will include pupusa cooking demonstrations led by Karen and Odila’s grandmother; family activities like face painting, complimentary samples of aguas frescas, pupusas and desserts; and cultural décor inspired by Puerto Rican and Salvadoran traditions.

Community members, local officials and partners will share remarks before the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

This café isn’t just about great food; it’s a vibrant space where culture, connection and creativity come together in a way that feels authentically Anythink Libraries.”

The grand opening celebration is free, open to the public and will include programming in English and Spanish. All ages are welcome.
