The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into Southwest Louisiana Health Care System d/b/a Lake Charles Memorial Health System’s (“LCMHS”) recent data breach impacting thousands of individuals. According to LCMHS, on October 25, 2022, it determined information stored on its servers may have been subject to unauthorized access between October 20, 2022, and October 21, 2022. Information exposed in the data breach includes: names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers (in some cases), driver’s license numbers, financial information, medical information, and health insurance information. On December 23, 2022, LCMHS, began mailing notices of the data breach to approximately 269,752 of its patients.
