Award-Winning North Carolina Dispensary Brings Five Competition-Pedigree Cultivars to Market Exclusively Through Sesh at Sherlocks - While Wake Forest Location Approaches Its One-Year Anniversary
RALEIGH, NC / ACCESS Newswire / May 1, 2026 / Sherlocks Glass & Dispensary, North Carolina's most recognized destination for craft THCa flower and solventless cannabis, has been named Best Cannabis Dispensary in Durham for the second consecutive year by Durham Magazine. To mark the occasion, Sherlocks is releasing an exclusive drop of five freshly harvested, high-end indoor living soil THCa cultivars grown by local North Carolina master cultivator James Farmer of Seeds of Kismet - available only through Sesh at Sherlocks, in all three Triangle locations and shipping nationwide.
The back-to-back Durham Magazine recognition reflects what customers across Raleigh, Durham, and Wake Forest have come to rely on: a dispensary that treats product curation, staff knowledge, and community presence as non-negotiables. Sherlocks' Durham location on Broadway Street earned a place on Durham's Third Friday Art Walk, hosts live glass blowing every Wednesday, and has become one of the most distinctive cannabis retail experiences in the Southeast.
"Winning this two years in a row means everything to us," said Alex Pelliccia, co-founder of Sherlocks Glass & Dispensary. "Durham has embraced us as part of the community, and we take that trust seriously. Every strain, every gram of rosin on our shelves is chosen with that standard in mind."
From Glass Art Gallery to North Carolina's Premier Craft Cannabis Destination
The story of Sherlocks begins with a glassblower and a vision. Co-founder Rob Weidenhamer is a masterful glassblower whose intricate lathe-made creations set the foundation for a business built on a simple principle: only carry the best. At a time when every local store stocked imported glass, Sherlocks offered exclusively American-made glass pipes - a curatorial standard that would later define every product decision the company made.
Childhood friend Alex brought the entrepreneurial vision. Together, they launched Sherlocks Glass Art Gallery in Raleigh in 2015, building a community cornerstone for art enthusiasts and cannabis connoisseurs. "The journey started with a passion for high-end glass pipes, but the dream was always cannabis," Alex has said of the company's origins.
In 2023, as hemp laws evolved in North Carolina, Sherlocks evolved with them - expanding into THCa flower, live hash rosin, and solventless vapes under the Sesh by Sherlocks brand. Today, with locations in Raleigh, Durham, and Wake Forest, Sherlocks carries only THCa, Delta 9, and CBD products. No Delta 8, no alt-cannabinoids, no shortcuts. The same standard that governed the glass program governs everything on the shelf.
Seeds of Kismet: An Exclusive NC Partnership Built on 20+ Years of Craft
James Farmer - who grows under the name Seeds of Kismet - is a North Carolina-based master cultivator with more than 20 years of growing experience and multiple cannabis competition wins in both North Carolina and Virginia. His operation is small by design: no-till, indoor living soil, small-batch, with a focus on rare, high-expression genetics that most commercial operations never touch. Sherlocks is the only place to find North Carolina living soil THCa flower.
Seeds of Kismet flower is pressed exclusively for Sesh at Sherlocks for live hash rosin and is not available through any other retailer. The collaboration represents exactly the kind of relationship Sherlocks has always sought: direct, trust-based, and rooted in a shared commitment to quality that doesn't make exceptions for convenience.
No-till living soil cultivation maintains a living underground ecosystem - mycorrhizal fungi, beneficial bacteria, worm castings, and organic matter - that feeds the plant naturally throughout its life cycle. The result is terpene complexity, burn quality, and a depth of effect that synthetic-nutrient or hydroponic grows cannot replicate at the same level. When James describes his flower, that difference is audible in every word.
The Five Strains: High-End Indoor Living Soil - May 6, 2026 Drop
The following strain notes are written by James Farmer of Seeds of Kismet:
90's Slurricane
Lineage: Slurricane x 90's Dutch Afghani
Classification: Indica-dominant hybrid
Effect: Perfectly balanced. A great happy maker with a nice relaxing body high. James' personal favorite in the drop.
Bouquet: Deep, funky, medicinal - with a weirdly hashy kiss of Slurricane and gas.
Flavor: Deeply funky and medicinal, with a great hashy note of tropical fruits and a long gassy exhale.
Grower's Notes: A breeding project from friends at Superflolicious, part of a larger collaborative breeding program.
Chernobyl x Vietnamese Black (C x VB)
Lineage: Chernobyl (Golden Ticket Cut) x Vietnamese Black (Billy Goat/AK's)
Classification: Sativa-dominant
Effect: Powerfully uplifting with an almost ceilingless high. Super energizing and euphoric.
Bouquet: Strong chemical scent with notes of lime and noodles. Almost burns the nose.
Flavor: Crazy limey, noodles, metallic cleaner.
Grower's Notes: Sent to Kismet as a direct tester from AKbeanbrains. Sister to the winner of the February Fire 2022 Sativa Cup "Penny."
E85
Lineage: Wedding Cake x Project 451
Classification: 50/50 Hybrid
Effect: Nice, uplifted calm. Easy all-day type. A creeper - give it a few minutes before going back for more.
Bouquet: Gassy fuel notes with creamy undertones. Hints of vanilla and sugary apricots.
Flavor: Gassy and fuely with a soft creamy exhale and a gentle sweet touch.
Grower's Notes: Recently jumped in popularity at the Seeds of Kismet booth. A lot of people said they'd never seen a nice E85.
Garlic Cocktail
Lineage: GMO x Mimosa
Classification: 50/50 Hybrid
Effect: Deeply relaxing, creative, and calm. Not overly sedative - a nice uplifted calm.
Bouquet: Garlicky gas overtone accented by sour tangerines, spicy dank, and rich anise with a syrup or soda finish.
Flavor: Heavy herbal garlic with a punch of tangerine soda and almost like men's aftershave - slightly fizzy and extremely funky.
Grower's Notes: Has become a favorite among customers who tried it. A deeply weird, funky-sweet-rotten combo that you can't quite get used to.
Sherb Cream Pie
Lineage: Ice Cream Cake x Sherb BX1
Classification: 70/30 Indica
Effect: Long-lasting deep relaxation with a profound mind-numbing effect.
Bouquet: A sweet, greasy cake with a deep creamy wood note that bursts into a long fuel finish. Coating.
Flavor: Sweet and creamy cake overtone accented by sour, citrusy lemon gelato and a hint of nuttiness.
Grower's Notes: A second expression of the Sherb Cream Pie line from Seeds of Kismet. Pretty color right out of the gate and a little greasier on the nose.
Wake Forest: Celebrating One Year
This month, Sherlocks' Wake Forest location at 508 S White Street celebrates its one-year anniversary. Co-founders Alex and Rob grew up in the Wake Forest area, giving the location a particular personal significance. The store carries the full Sesh by Sherlocks lineup - including the Seeds of Kismet drop - and operates with the same curatorial standard as the flagship Raleigh and award-winning Durham locations.
