How Juan Zuniga Went From Broke to Successful Business Owner

If you had told Juan Zuniga five years ago that one day he would be the owner of several thriving businesses, he wouldn't have believed you. His life was at a crossroads. The Honduran immigrant and father of four was nearly broke and drowning in credit card debt after a failed business. Juan now has achieved much more than just a dream through his marketing and eCommerce businesses. While his many responsibilities might have made others fearful and kept them from achieving their dreams, it didn't stop Juan.

A change of course

Zuniga's journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur began with one simple decision. He wanted to change course. Rather than continuing his job search, he decided to take a leap of faith and start his own business. "I came to the U.S. when I was young," he said. "I have always worked hard to get what I want. Went to law school and decided that I didn't like the legal field. After working for several years at different firms, I decided to quit and go full-time in the business. It was a hard decision, I had a wife and children that depended on me. However, I had the full support and took a leap of faith."

Becoming an entrepreneur

Zuniga's entrepreneurial journey began in 2014 when he started a tailored suit company with his brother. All suits were made to measure for the perfect fit. Eventually, the business slowed down, and Zuniga was forced to close. The experience had been a valuable lesson in entrepreneurship, but he still needed to find another way to make money. "I tried to find a job again and I had a couple of interviews, but I didn't get jobs," Zuniga said. "Nobody was hiring. So, I decided to open another business." Zuniga opened his second business in 2016, creating content on YouTube. The business was going well with sponsorships and ad revenue, and Zuniga was making good money. From there Zuniga wanted to keep growing and opening new businesses. He didn't want to stop.

The birth of a new business

Zuniga's third entrepreneurial venture was successful as well. He started a clothing company again called ESNTLS. Although his first company had failed, he learned a lot from it and learned a lot about promoting from his content creation on YouTube. The business became so successful, Zuniga was able to buy clothing and have it sell out in a matter of days. He now owns three other companies as well that revolve in the men's lifestyle niche called Jade Black, hē Grooming, and Santa Lucia. "I was amazed how much the people loved our products and how fast everything was selling out," Zuniga explained. "I never thought that it was going to be this successful. I always had the fear that I was going to fail as I did with the first company. however, the lessons that I learned taught me a lot on how to scale these companies."

Zuniga's journey from broke to successful entrepreneur has taught him a lot of valuable lessons that he hopes other aspiring business owners will learn from. The most important lesson, according to Zuniga, is to be patient and persistent. Becoming an entrepreneur doesn't happen overnight, and it's important to be willing to take risks and make adjustments along the way. "It was really hard because I had a family and I was broke," Zuniga said. "I didn't have any money. I wasn't making any money because I was trying to get into business. But I had a lot of patience. I kept trying. I kept trying and I kept trying, and after years of work, I became successful."
