CEO and Managing Partner complete Harvard Law School's Leadership in Law Firms and Harvard Business School's Program for Leadership Development, three months after earning his Chartered Director designation

CALGARY, AB, October 09, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Osuji & Smith Lawyers is celebrating a major milestone for its CEO and Managing Partner, Dr. Charles Osuji, LL.D. (Hon.), C.Dir. He has graduated from two executive leadership programs at Harvard University: the Leadership in Law Firms (LLF) program at Harvard Law School and the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) at Harvard Business School.

"At Osuji & Smith Lawyers, we have always believed that exceptional legal representation begins with exceptional leadership," the firm said. "The organizations we advise face increasingly complex legal and business challenges. To provide exceptional counsel, our leadership must continue learning alongside the world's leading thinkers, executives and institutions."

The two programs gave complementary views of executive leadership. Harvard Law School's LLF program focused on how law firms are run. It covered strategy, governance, economics and profitability, compensation, talent development and innovation in legal services. Harvard Business School's PLD program covered general management more broadly, including strategy execution, finance, marketing, business analytics, digital transformation and global business leadership. In the firm's words: "Harvard Law School LLF taught Dr. Osuji how to lead a law firm. Harvard Business School PLD taught him how to lead a complex business."

Dr. Osuji came to Canada as an internationally trained lawyer and worked through Canadian licensing requirements. He went on to build Osuji & Smith Lawyers into one of Canada's largest Black-owned law firms. Three months before finishing at Harvard, he earned the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation through McMaster University's DeGroote School of Business. He has received more than 140 local, provincial and national awards and honours.

The firm says what Dr. Osuji learned will shape its next chapter. That means building strong systems rather than relying on individual personalities, developing future leaders, strengthening the client experience and putting sustainable excellence ahead of growth for its own sake. "Growth, in itself, is never the objective. Sustainable excellence is," the firm said.

"While graduation marks the completion of two exceptional programs, it also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter," the firm added. "At Osuji & Smith Lawyers, learning is never an end in itself. It is how we become better advocates, better leaders and better partners for our clients."
