California Teen Center (530-531-8754) has expanded its Yuba City PHP Day Program, offering adolescents ages 12-17 with ADHD structured daytime mental health treatment that goes beyond what traditional weekly therapy can provide.

-- California Teen Center is expanding access to structured mental health care in Yuba City with the growth of its Teen PHP Day Program, a specialized treatment option for adolescents ages 12-17 diagnosed with ADHD. The program is designed for teens whose ADHD is accompanied by emotional, behavioral, or other co-occurring mental health challenges — conditions that often require a level of support that falls between weekly outpatient therapy and inpatient hospitalization.

ADHD often extends beyond attention and impulsivity. According to the CDC, nearly 78% of children with ADHD have at least one co-occurring condition, such as anxiety, depression, or a behavioral disorder. These overlapping challenges can affect emotional well-being, family relationships, and academic performance — underscoring the need for comprehensive, evidence-based treatment.
To help meet these complex care needs, the Teen PHP Day Program delivers intensive mental health treatment without requiring hospitalization. The program runs five days a week and combines evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with individual, group, and family therapy, psychiatric oversight, medication management when clinically appropriate, and academic coordination.
"Some teens with ADHD need intensive support without 24-hour care," a California Teen Center spokesperson said. "Our Teen PHP Program offers structured daytime treatment and keeps families involved in the therapeutic process."
The center also offers ADHD evaluations and can provide documentation to support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans when appropriate, helping families coordinate treatment with school-based services.
In addition to its Teen PHP Day Program, the center offers Teen Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), outpatient therapy, step-down support, and Virtual IOP for eligible families throughout California. The organization works with major insurance providers, including Anthem, Blue Shield of California, Carelon, and Aetna, and offers insurance verification assistance. California Teen Center is licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and accredited by The Joint Commission.
