San Jose, California— Reel Fathers Rights, the #1 ranked law firm on the 2025 Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies and California’s most recognized fathers’ rights law firm, today announced the addition of Jonathan Tung as a Senior Trial Attorney. Tung joins the firm’s San Jose office, where he will represent fathers in divorce, child custody, child support, and domestic violence matters across Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Stanislaus Counties.

Licensed by the State Bar of California since 2015, Tung brings a trial practice that spans three distinct areas of California law: family, criminal, and civil. Over the course of his career he has handled matters ranging from Title IX proceedings and paternity fraud to the defense of clients falsely accused of sexual offenses in both criminal and civil courts. That breadth is directly relevant to the fathers he now represents. A contested custody case is rarely confined to one courtroom, and an attorney who has litigated in all three arenas understands how a dispute can develop and where it is most likely to turn.

“Jonathan Tung is exactly the kind of attorney that makes Reel Fathers Rights an extraordinary resource for fathers in Northern California,” said Mark Reel Jr., Founder and CEO of Reel Fathers Rights APC. “When a father is facing a restraining order, a CPS referral, and a custody fight all at once, he needs an attorney who has stood in every one of those courtrooms. Jonathan has spent his career separating what a person is accused of from what actually happened, and that is the experience fathers across the Bay Area will now have on their side. We are proud to have him as part of our team.”

Trial Experience Across Every Courtroom a Father May Face

Fathers in family court often face pressure on several fronts at once. A request for a domestic violence restraining order under Family Code section 6300, a Child Protective Services referral, a criminal complaint, and a request to modify custody can all arise from the same contested set of facts and proceed simultaneously in different courtrooms. Tung’s experience across family, criminal, and civil practice allows him to see how those proceedings connect and to build a strategy that accounts for all of them.

His work defending clients against false accusations carries particular weight in family court, where allegations of abuse and misconduct often surface at the moment they can do the most damage. A father can lose access to his children through a temporary order entered before he has said a word in his own defense, and that order can remain in place for weeks while a hearing is set. Tung understands what a false allegation does to a person because he has represented people it happened to, and that experience is directly on point for fathers defending against a restraining order request, responding to a CPS investigation, or facing a custody move built on an unproven claim.

Tung’s work in dependency court has reinforced his conviction about the vital role fathers play in their children’s lives, particularly in a world shaped by relentless social media pressure, widespread drug use, and high-conflict parenting disputes. He earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School in 2014 and holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Philosophy from the University of California, Davis. From the firm’s San Jose office, he appears in family courthouses throughout the region, including the Family Justice Center in San Jose, the Hall of Justice and Records in Redwood City, the Civic Center Courthouse in San Francisco, the Hayward Hall of Justice, the Peter L. Spinetta Family Law Center in Martinez, the Watsonville Courthouse, and the Stanislaus County Main Courthouse in Modesto.
