Love Peace Harmony Foundation marked a major milestone on September 10 with the celebration of the first-ever Love Peace Harmony Day, creating a new annual moment dedicated to love, peace, harmony, healing, compassion and service.
The inaugural observance coincided with the 21st anniversary of the Love Peace Harmony song, created by Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha on September 10, 2005. What began more than two decades ago with one song and a simple message has since developed into a global movement reaching individuals and communities around the world.
Today, Love Peace Harmony extends across wellbeing practices, humanitarian and environmental projects, community initiatives, collaborative partnerships, the Love Peace Harmony Calligraphy Field and a growing international network of volunteers and supporters.
The creation of Love Peace Harmony Day was intended to recognize that evolution while giving people an opportunity to reflect on how the values of love, peace and harmony can be incorporated into everyday life.
“Love Peace Harmony Day is an opportunity for people around the world to remember that positive change begins with each of us,” said Richard Rogers, Executive Director of Love Peace Harmony Foundation. “Whether through kindness, service, healing, connection or caring for our planet, every person has the ability to contribute to a more loving, peaceful and harmonious world.”
The Love Peace Harmony song has remained at the heart of the movement since its creation in 2005. Over the years, it has been translated into more than 90 languages and shared by communities across different countries and cultures as a message of compassion, connection, healing and hope. That message has also expanded beyond music. Through Love Peace Harmony Foundation, individuals, volunteers and partner organizations have participated in programs focused on personal wellbeing, humanitarian service, environmental action, community engagement and education.
The first Love Peace Harmony Day recognized both that work and the people who have helped carry the movement forward. Rather than being centered on one location or one specific activity, the day encouraged people to participate in ways that were meaningful to them. Acts of kindness, community service, meditation, music, environmental action, personal reflection and connecting with others were all ways people could embrace the spirit behind the day. At the core of Love Peace Harmony is the idea that personal transformation and collective action are closely connected.
The Foundation's work encourages individuals to nurture their own wellbeing while also considering how their choices can positively affect their families, communities and the wider world.
For Dr. and Master Sha, the first Love Peace Harmony Day reflected a message that has remained central throughout decades of spiritual teaching and humanitarian work. “Love, peace and harmony are values that belong to everyone,” said Dr. and Master Sha. “When we bring more love, peace and harmony into our hearts, our relationships, our communities and our world, we create the possibility for greater healing and transformation.”
Dr. and Master Sha founded Love Peace Harmony Foundation with a mission of creating a more loving, peaceful and harmonious world through service, education, humanitarian initiatives and practices designed to support personal and collective wellbeing. The Foundation has since developed relationships and initiatives that connect individuals and communities around shared goals of compassion, sustainability and positive social impact.
The first Love Peace Harmony Day represented both a look back and a step forward for the movement. Twenty-one years after the Love Peace Harmony song first introduced its message, September 10 now carries an additional meaning for the Foundation and its worldwide community. The day provided an opportunity to recognize the volunteers, supporters, community leaders and partners who have contributed to the movement while also inviting more people to consider how they can bring love, peace and harmony into their own communities.
For the Foundation, the inaugural observance is intended to be the beginning of something that can continue to grow. Future Love Peace Harmony Days could provide communities around the world with an annual opportunity to gather, reflect, serve others and participate in activities inspired by the values behind the movement.
That momentum continued on September 19, when Love Peace Harmony Foundation took part in OMMM’s International Day of Peace celebration in Times Square, New York City. The Foundation joined artists, educators, activists and changemakers for an evening concert centered on peace, connection and collective action, bringing the message of Love Peace Harmony to one of the world’s most recognizable public spaces. The program was also shared through a global livestream, allowing people beyond New York City to experience the celebration and participate in the message of love, peace and harmony from communities around the world.
While the first Love Peace Harmony Day marked an important milestone, its underlying message remains intentionally simple: meaningful change can begin with the actions people take every day. Twenty-one years after one song helped launch the movement, Love Peace Harmony Day now represents another chapter in that continuing story.
