The organization formerly known as the Michigan Music Awards is proud to announce its official name change to the Michigan Music Initiative, marking an exciting new chapter in its continued commitment to Michigan’s thriving music community. While the annual awards show will remain a cornerstone of the organization, this name change reflects a broader vision, one that expands into year-round impact.
Executive Director Matthew Rose shares the mission behind this evolution: “The Michigan Music Initiative is a registered non-profit 501(c) organization, with a mission dedicated to recognizing talent, supporting artists, and actively helping build careers, create opportunities, and unite a diverse and passionate music community across the state. Led by a team of committed music industry believers with years of experience in recording, live shows, media, label operations, and management, who share the core belief that original music deserves to be celebrated, supported, and elevated.”
Since its conception, the organization has proudly celebrated original music across a wide range of genres, including Pop, Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, Blues, Rock, Metal, Country, Americana, Bluegrass, Gospel/Contemporary Christian, Electronic, Latin/International, Classical/Theater, and Jazz, through its respected, peer-voted awards platform.
