The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) welcomed Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, to its 44th Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly on July 2, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The convention, which also commemorated the 250th anniversary of America's independence, brought together physicians and healthcare leaders. During the convention, Mrs. Ambani received the AAPI Humanitarian Award 2026 and was presented the Key to the City by Tampa Mayor Jane Castor in recognition of her outstanding humanitarian contributions. In her keynote address, she announced the India–America Health Alliance, a landmark partnership between the Reliance Foundation and AAPI to strengthen healthcare collaboration between India and the United States.

Mrs. Nita Ambani was bestowed with the AAPI Humanitarian Award 2026 by Convention Chairman Dr. Sagar Galwankar, AAPI President Dr. Amit Chakrabarty, and Convention Convener Dr. Raghu Juvvadi in recognition of her decades of humanitarian leadership through the Reliance Foundation. Her work spans healthcare, education, arts, culture and heritage, rural transformation, environmental and animal welfare, women's empowerment, urban renewal, disaster management, and sports for development, impacting millions across India.

Mrs. Ambani described the partnership as advancing healthcare beyond borders.

"Medicine, at its best, has no borders," she said.

The partnership has three commitments:

  • Access: Leveraging Jio's 5G network, AAPI's U.S.-based physician specialists will provide telemedicine consultations to patients in India's towns and remote villages, expanding access to expert medical care for underserved communities.
  • Capacity: The alliance will strengthen India's healthcare workforce by training first responders in advanced clinical protocols, artificial intelligence, and real-time guidance from AAPI physicians.
  • Discovery: The partnership aims to produce up to 500 peer-reviewed publications over the next decade, advancing collaborative research benefiting populations in both India and the United States.

Together, these commitments reflect a shared commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare, strengthening medical education, empowering frontline healthcare workers, and advancing collaborative research benefiting communities in both India and the United States. Mrs. Ambani's announcement received a standing ovation from attendees, reflecting broad support for the India–America Health Alliance.
