“Buena Vida Supportive Housing is a transformative investment in our community’s future,” HACB’s CEO Carla Mancha said. “This project will not only provide safe, affordable homes, but also empower survivors with the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives. We are deeply grateful to FHLB Dallas and Texas Regional Bank for their partnership and commitment to Brownsville.”
AHP funds are awarded through FHLB Dallas member institutions like Texas Regional Bank and assist FHLB Dallas members in financing the purchase, construction and rehabilitation of owner-occupied, rental or transitional housing and housing for homeless individuals.
“At Texas Regional Bank, we believe that safe, stable housing is the foundation for rebuilding lives,” Chairman Michael Scaief said. “We’re proud to support the Buena Vida Supportive Housing project, which will provide not only affordable homes but also critical services for women recovering from trauma. It’s an honor to partner with organizations that are making such a meaningful impact in Brownsville.”
Buena Vida Supportive Housing will feature a three-story building with secured entries, gated parking, 24-hour surveillance and indoor/outdoor family spaces. Residents will also benefit from on-site financial literacy programs, youth enrichment activities and support services provided by Friendship of Women Inc.
“We are committed to working hand-in-hand with our members and community partners to address the ongoing challenge of affordable housing,” said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. “Projects like Buena Vida Supportive Housing are especially meaningful because they not only provide safe, stable homes, but also offer a path to healing and empowerment.”
