Marquis Who's Who Honors Cecilia B. Calderon, MD, for Leadership in Family Medicine, Pathology and Research Advocacy

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / January 12, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who honors Cecilia B. Calderon, MD, for her leadership in family medicine, pathology and medical research advocacy. With more than five decades of experience in health care, Dr. Calderon continues to focus her professional efforts on patient care and on studying factors she believes influence fetal development and long-term child health.

About Cecilia B. Calderon

Dr. Calderon has built a distinguished medical career as a family medicine practitioner and surgical pathologist. She has directed patient care through the Calderon Medical Clinic while maintaining a strong interest in diagnostic imaging and maternal-fetal medicine. Since the early stages of her career, she has worked extensively with ultrasound technology, including pioneering its use in detecting mammary tumors during her tenure at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, in collaboration with engineers from RCA Laboratories. That work contributed to earlier diagnosis and treatment for many patients.

In recent years, Dr. Calderon has centered her research interests on the potential effects of diagnostic ultrasound exposure on fetal development. She continues to study existing literature, historical data and international research related to autism prevalence and other long-term developmental outcomes. Her work examines correlations she believes warrant further investigation, including increased ultrasound use, environmental exposures and medical practices that expanded after the mid-1970s. She has also reviewed studies related to nuclear exposure and prolonged use of birth control medication as part of her broader analysis of population health trends.

Dr. Calderon remains committed to raising awareness among mothers and health professionals about the importance of exercising caution and making informed decisions during pregnancy. She regularly engages nurses, caregivers and families in discussions about prenatal care. When doing so, she emphasizes the need for careful evaluation of medical interventions and respect for fetal well-being. Her goal is to encourage further research, open dialogue and ethical consideration within maternal-fetal medicine.

A Commitment to Serving Others

Beyond her research focus, Dr. Calderon maintains a strong humanitarian mission. She is the founder of the Christian Calderon Children's Charity, which provides health services and educational materials to children in need. Through her outreach efforts, she has connected with families both in the United States and the Philippines. After inheriting land in the Philippines, she expressed plans to develop a center that could one day support children with developmental needs. While she does not operate through grants at this time, she continues to offer medical assistance, including physical examinations for autistic children. She also provides limited financial help when possible.

Dr. Calderon's professional background includes service as a physician for the Veterans Affairs hospital in Baltimore and as an assistant professor of pathology at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, where she led the surgical pathology department. She completed her medical training through residencies at Georgetown University and Boston University, as well as a fellowship in surgical pathology at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. She also holds a fellowship in clinical oncology.

Her achievements and leadership have earned Dr. Calderon recognition through multiple Marquis Who's Who honors, including Top Professional and Industry Leader distinctions. She is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Philippine-American Association of Physicians.

In her personal life, Dr. Calderon is deeply guided by her Catholic faith and commitment to service. She values family, long-term marriage and meaningful relationships. She also expresses her creativity through composing Catholic liturgical music. Looking ahead, she remains focused on advancing her research on fetal health, expanding charitable efforts and continuing her lifelong mission to relieve pain and suffering through compassionate care and informed medical practice.
