With more than four decades of professional experience, Mr. Foster has built a notable career. As the founder of the Law Offices of Mark E. Foster, he is proud to work with clients both domestically and internationally, taking a hands-on approach to their work. Today, he continues to position his firm for long-term growth.

Education and Bar Admissions
Before beginning his professional career, Mr. Foster pursued an education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in classics and religion from Alma College in 1970, then a Master of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972. After completing his academic career, Mr. Foster earned admission to multiple bars, including the California bar in 1981 and the Oregon bar in 1989. He additionally obtained admission to the U.S. Supreme Court, the District Court of Northern California, the U.S. District Court of Oregon and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Following his graduation, Mr. Foster joined Hetland & Hansen in Berkeley as an attorney. From this point, he entered a similar role at Braun Moriya Hoashi in Tokyo. Two years later, Mr. Foster was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to serve as a Special Counsel to the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. In 1985, he became Counsel in Japan for the U.S. Electronic Industries Association.
Growing the Law Offices of Mark E. Foster
Having gained firsthand experience in both domestic and international business law, Mr. Foster decided to launch his own firm. In 1988, he founded the Law Offices of Mark E. Foster in Portland and Tokyo, operating until 2002. In 2002, he became vice president and general counsel at Natus Medical Inc, in San Francisco.
Shifting back to entrepreneurship, Mr. Foster reestablished the Law Offices of Mark E. Foster. He now leads a firm that serves clients nationally and internationally, with California as its largest market. In his role, he is responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing legal matters, developing strategies for business growth and more. Ultimately, he attributes much of his success in the field to traditional hard work and quality education.
Outside of his professional contributions, Mr. Foster is actively involved in several civic and membership organizations. Notably, he served as Chairman of the Trustees of the University of California Hastings Law School 1066 Foundation, chair of the Silicon Valley Association of General Counsel and is a contributor and committee member of the American Law Institute.
