Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced it will present at two technical sessions today at the conference. Moray Rumney, Agilent lead technologist, will present his paper “Identifying Technology to Deliver the Next 100x Growth in Wireless” and will participate in an industry debate titled, “The Need for LTE to Interwork with Non-3GPP Standard Technologies.” In addition, Agilent will exhibit its design-automation tools and flexible instrumentation for early LTE R&D design in components, base-station equipment and mobile devices.
“As a leader in the measurement industry, Agilent is fully committed to providing solutions for the entire LTE development lifecycle -- from early protocol development through conformance test,” said Benoit Neel, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Europe, Middle East and Africa field operations.
3GPP LTE has the potential to enhance 3G networks and enable significant new service opportunities; its commercial success requires the early availability of measurement solutions that parallel the standard’s development. LTE is predicted to have more than 24 million users by 2012, making it a leading technology for mobile broadband. The Informa LTE World Summit gives attendees from the key industry players the opportunity to address the developments beyond 3G and define the roadmap for the long-term evolution of next-generation mobile networks.
Moray Rumney joined Agilent in 1984, and in 1991 became Agilent’s representative to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), contributing to the standardization of the GSM air interface and type approval tests. He has represented Agilent at 3GPP and contributed to the development of the W-CDMA air interface and RF conformance tests. This standardization work has evolved to incorporate HSDPA, HSUPA, and now LTE and IMT-Advanced.
