TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies Adds Most Powerful, Easy-to-Use WiMAX(tm) Software to Its Signaling Analyzer Products

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the addition of the industrys most powerful and easy-to-use WiMAX analysis software to its signaling analyzer platform. Using this software and platform, service providers and network equipment manufacturers will be able to accelerate the development and deployment of WiMAX networks.

Mobile WiMAX(tm) is regarded as one of key technology options of third-generation (3G) and fourth-generation (4G) mobile networks, where voice, video and data services all reside in one high-speed, spread-spectrum radio access network. A new generation of protocol analyzers is required to satisfy the new requirements of monitoring ASN (Access Service Network) and CSN (Connectivity Service Network) of Mobile WiMAX. Agilents family of signaling analyzers is designed to solve these higher intelligence and performance needs.

The Agilent J7910A signaling analyzer WiMAX solution offers a breakthrough in troubleshooting methodology with a high-performance, client server, multi-user architecture, and seamless drill down from statistics and call traces, to messages and decodes. This solution allows full and uniform testing of network and individual call performance across all key interfaces of a Mobile WiMAX network, including R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R8 interfaces. Engineers are able to rapidly identify WiMAX network problems as they occur by transforming overwhelming amounts of data into actionable information and problem definitions. The signaling analyzer WiMAX solutions allow users to efficiently and effectively troubleshoot, optimize performance benchmark, plan, install, and maintain WiMAX networks.

The Agilent signaling analyzer WiMAX solution includes:

  • end-to-end WiMAX troubleshooting and optimization with real-time protocol decode and call trace across multiple interfaces (e.g., R1, R3, R6);
  • comprehensive WiMAX coverage with R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R8 decode and filtering capabilities;
  • rapid time to insight with three mouse-clicks and seamless message, call and measurement drill down and drill up analysis;
  • remote configuration and control with full automated testing via XML API; and
  • high utilization through concurrent multi-user access to a single solution.

Equipment vendors and service providers need to analyze high traffic loads with complex triple play service mixes over WiMAX networks, while optimizing radio resources, said Rick Pearson, general manager of Agilents IP Network Convergence Operation. Leveraging the modular signaling analyzer platform, our customers can more quickly troubleshoot, optimize and deploy new services over WiMAX networks.
