Meta agrees to buy environmental attributes from Texas solar project

A proposed 175 MW battery energy storage facility at the same location is listed on ERCOT interconnection planning documents.

Apex Clean Energy said it signed an environmental attribute purchase agreement (EAPA) with Meta for capacity of the 195 MW Angelo Solar in Tom Green County, Texas, around 200 miles northwest of Austin.

Terms were not disclosed.

The agreement follows other deals between Virginia-based Apex and Meta: an 80 MW EAPA with Altavista Solar; 200 MW with Aviator Wind East; 175 MW with Lincoln Land Wind; 197 MW with Jayhawk Wind; and 225 MW with Great Pathfinder Wind.

Angelo Solar could begin commercial operations in early 2024.

Published reports peg the solar farm’s price at around $262 million. A proposed $75 million, 175 MW battery energy storage facility at the same location is listed on ERCOT interconnection planning documents.
