Unisys Outsourcing Centers Achieve Prestigious Certification in IT Service Management

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that five of its worldwide outsourcing centers have received the prestigious ISO/IEC 20000 certification for delivering information technology (IT) services based on best-practice global management standards. The certification is the first and prevailing worldwide standard for benchmarking delivery of IT services that advance clients enterprise business goals.

The Unisys IT Outsourcing Operations Centers in Eagan, Minnesota and Sao Paulo, Brazil were certified for their comprehensive approach to large-scale systems management. Those in Austin, Texas; Bogota, Colombia; and Budapest, Hungary received certification for service event/service desk management.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) devised the ISO/IEC 20000 standard, which conforms to the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) guidelines for service management. The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), which oversees certifications to the standard, granted the Unisys certification. UL DQS Inc., a leader in management systems certification acting as an agent for itSMF, carried out the Unisys audit.

The Unisys IT Outsourcing Operations Centers achieved the ISO/IEC 20000 certification across a remarkably broad range of data center and service desk services, said Ganesh Rao, president & CEO of UL DQS Inc. This shows that Unisys is in the front rank of IT services providers.

Service providers achieving certification to the ISO/IEC 20000 standard must demonstrate adherence to best practices in multiple operational activities for example, call handling and service event resolution in service desk operations; implementation planning, security and environmental quality in data center management; and performance to service level agreements (SLAs), budgeting and reporting in both types of activities.
