My name is Bruna Araceli Dealmeida, and I am a 30-year-old Latina entrepreneur and creator who grew up in Boston and is originally from Brazil. I have a degree in global business and marketing from Suffolk University, which provided me with the skills and knowledge to launch and grow my own fashion store called Salt Society. As someone who is deeply interested in fashion and fitness, I saw a need for activewear that was both stylish and eco-friendly, and that could be worn both in the studio and on the street. This led me to create Salt Society, a brand that offers comfortable, stylish, and eco-friendly activewear for women. Today, Salt Society is rapidly growing, and we are committed to offering our customers even more options for eco-friendly, stylish activewear that empowers them both in and out of the gym.
You have launched a fashion store called Salt Society (https://saltsociety.shop/), why did you decide to launch the popular store?
I decided to launch Salt Society because I live and breathe activewear. Whether I'm running errands or going from the studio to brunch, activewear has become a lifestyle for me. Originally, Salt Society was focused on Brazilian-made swimwear, but I wanted to expand the brand to include activewear and athleisure because I believe that the concept of "salt" ties into both categories. Salt is what makes us, and it can come from both the sea and sweat. As a first-generation immigrant and a woman in business, I also saw this as an opportunity to create a brand that empowers women and showcases the beauty and culture of my Brazilian heritage. Today, Salt Society is known for its comfortable, stylish, and eco-friendly activewear that can be worn both in and out of the gym, and we are committed to expanding our offerings and continuing to empower women through fashion.
When did you become interested in fashion and when did you realise that fashion can empower people?
I became interested in fashion at a young age through reading fashion magazines and admiring the style of people around me. I realized that fashion can empower people during my own experiences with activewear and seeing how having the right clothing can motivate and empower me to be active. Through Salt Society, I have been able to combine my passion for fashion with my love for fitness and create activewear that not only looks great but also empowers women to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
You say you have a passion for fitness, so how did your passion for fitness help you understand what activewear women want?
My passion for fitness has helped me understand what women want in activewear. My firsthand experience with different types of activewear has allowed me to identify gaps in the market and stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations. By prioritizing comfort, functionality, durability, style, and versatility in my designs, I have been able to create activewear that not only looks great but also performs exceptionally well, empowering women to live active, healthy, and fulfilling lives. My connection with customers on a deeper level has allowed me to create activewear that meets their needs and preferences, exceeding their expectations. Ultimately, my passion for fitness has been a driving force behind Salt Society's success, allowing me to create activewear that empowers women to feel confident and supported while reaching their fitness goals.
How important is it to have the right exercise clothing when hitting the gym?
I believe having the right exercise clothing is essential when hitting the gym or engaging in any physical activity. The right activewear can provide many benefits, including comfort, support, flexibility, and breathability. It can also enhance performance by allowing for greater range of motion and reducing distractions and discomfort.

While some activewear brands mark up their prices to maximize profits, we take a different approach. By keeping our overhead costs low and prioritizing efficient manufacturing processes, we're able to offer high-quality activewear sets at competitive prices.
We also prioritize building long-term relationships with our suppliers and manufacturers, which allows us to negotiate lower prices for materials and production. By working directly with our suppliers and manufacturers, we're able to avoid middlemen and pass the savings on to our customers.
A lot of your activewear uses eco-friendly fabrics, why did you make that decision?
At Salt Society, we're focused on providing high-quality activewear that inspires confidence and promotes sustainability. As we continue to grow, we'll expand our product line with new designs and styles, while remaining committed to eco-friendly manufacturing practices. We're also looking to expand our global reach through partnerships with retailers and distributors, as well as enhancing our online presence. Our ultimate goal is to become a leading activewear brand that empowers individuals to achieve their fitness goals while making sustainable choices for the environment.
