Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) announced today that the General Services Administration (GSA) has designated the company a holder of the agency’s new Alliant contracting vehicle, under which Unisys can bid competitively on task orders. Alliant, a 10-year vehicle with a $50 billion ceiling, is the largest single IT contract the federal government has ever issued.
Alliant is a multiple award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) government-wide acquisition contract (GWAC), and is intended to replace GSA’s ANSWER and Millennia contracts, which expire in 2009. Unisys holds the Millennia contract. According to Federal Sources, Unisys in 2006 ranked fourth among federal contractors in total GWAC sales.
“What’s unique about Alliant is its flexibility that allows contractors to employ the newest technologies and offer innovative solutions to federal agencies,” said Greg Baroni, president, Unisys Federal Systems.
The Alliant contract vehicle covers the full range of information technology services to meet evolving government agency needs. Any federal government department or agency will be able to use it to procure IT services.
“Unisys strength and long heritage in providing information technology solutions can help GSA make Alliant the contract of choice for agencies over the next decade,” Baroni said.
Alliant contract holders, including Unisys, will be able to select and manage partners and subcontractors in the context of accessing and providing the best and most current business processes and technologies to government customers.
