South Dakota Congresswoman's efforts on behalf of small business celebrated by trade association
PRLog - May 27, 2014 - WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Heating, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) has presented the HARDI Small Business Champion Award to South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem. The Small Business Champion Award, given to elected officials who promote and protect the interests of small businesses, was presented to Rep. Noem by HARDI members Rick and Glenys Hull of Sioux Falls, SD during the 2014 Congressional Fly-In in Washington, D.C..
Mr. & Mrs. Hull, owners of Johnstone Supply, said the selection of Rep. Noem for the Small Business Champion Award was an easy decision for HARDI. “Congresswoman Noem has consistently shown through her votes and the bills she sponsors that she understands the plight of small businesses like ours in dealing with issues like the estate tax, increasingly burdensome regulations, and an overly complicated tax code,” said Rick Hull.
“Kristi knows that actions speak louder than words and she has been proactive in visiting businesses like ours and listening to the concerns of small businesses throughout South Dakota,” said Glenys Hull. “She is a true voice for job creators in Congress.”
HARDI Executive Vice-President and C.O.O Talbot Gee stated, “There is perhaps not a more eloquent and honest speaker on the subject of the estate tax than Congresswoman Noem. For our members, this (the estate tax) has been a major issue to tackle and we are grateful to have Representative Noem leading the charge on this and many other issues that impact business owners in South Dakota and across our nation.”

HARDI is a trade association comprised of nearly 1,000 member companies, over 475 of which are U.S.–based wholesale companies. More than 80% of HARDI’s distributor members are classified as small businesses that collectively employ over 35,000 U.S. workers, representing over $30 billion in annual sales and an estimated 90% of the U.S. wholesale distribution market of HVACR equipment, supplies and controls.
