Revenue growth

A company’s long-term revenue performance is one signal of its overall quality. Even a weak business can perform well for one or two quarters, but a high-quality one grows for years. Corpay’s revenue grew at an impressive 14.6% compounded annual growth rate over the last five years. Its growth surpassed the average financials company and shows its offerings resonate with customers.

Long-term growth matters most, but within financials, a half-decade historical view may miss recent interest rate changes, market returns and industry trends. Corpay’s annualized revenue growth of 16.1% over the last two years is above its five-year trend, suggesting its demand was strong and recently accelerated. This quarter, Corpay reported year-on-year revenue growth of 17.9%, and its $1.38 billion in revenue exceeded Wall Street’s consensus estimates by 1.7%.

Key takeaways from Corpay’s Q3 results

Corpay’s sizable EBITDA beat and full-year EPS guidance above Wall Street’s consensus estimates gave the quarter some key positives. EBITDA came in well ahead of analysts’ consensus expectations, but investors were likely hoping for more. Shares edged lower 1.1% to $413.95 immediately after the results.

The latest quarter is only one part of assessing Corpay’s longer-term business quality. Quality, combined with valuation, can help determine if the stock is a buy. Read more in our full research report here (it’s free).
