Richmond firm helps construction, remodeling, and home service businesses across central Virginia track costs by job and see the profit on every project.

Richmond, VA (PRUnderground) July 20th, 2026

Tri-County Bookkeeping, a Richmond-based bookkeeping firm, provides job costing and project accounting services for contractors, remodelers, and home service businesses throughout Greater Richmond and the Tri-Cities.

Project-based businesses run into a bookkeeping problem that most other companies never face. Revenue arrives in deposits and draws while costs spread out over weeks or months across payroll, materials, subcontractors, and equipment. A job that looked profitable at the bid can turn out otherwise once labor overruns and mid-project price increases are counted. Many owners never learn the final number because nobody ties the costs back to the individual job.

Tri-County Bookkeeping assigns every expense to the project it belongs to. When a job closes, the owner sees the gross margin on that job and how the numbers compared to the original bid. Over time, that history shows which types of work are worth bidding and gives owners real data to estimate from rather than figures they hope will hold up.

“A contractor can finish a job on schedule, collect the final check, and still have no idea what he made on it,” said Noe Juarez, owner of Tri-County Bookkeeping. “The costs went out over three months. Payroll here, a lumber bill there, a sub invoice that showed up after the job closed. We tie every dollar back to the job it belongs to, so when the work is done the owner sees the real number.”

For construction and skilled trades clients, the firm also handles items specific to the industry, including retainage, payment cycles with slow-paying general contractors, and equipment loans. Financial statements are kept in the format that bonding companies and lenders expect, so a contractor looking to bid larger work or finance new equipment has the paperwork ready when the opportunity comes.

Home service companies such as lawn care, cleaning, pest control, pool maintenance, pressure washing, and handyman businesses face a different version of the same problem. “Home service work runs at volume,” Juarez said. “A lawn care company might bill two hundred customers a couple hundred dollars each, every month. At that volume, an invoice that never goes out just disappears, and nobody notices until the bank balance feels light. We make sure every job that gets done gets billed.”

Beyond project accounting, the firm offers monthly bookkeeping, catch-up bookkeeping for businesses that have fallen behind, payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable management, QuickBooks setup, inventory management, and sales tax services.

Juarez holds QuickBooks ProAdvisor and Payroll certifications and earned a business degree from American InterContinental University. Before starting Tri-County Bookkeeping, he spent more than a decade running and managing small businesses, which included keeping his own job records and preparing financial documentation for accountants and lenders.

The firm serves small businesses throughout Greater Richmond and the Tri-Cities, including Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover counties, as well as Petersburg, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights. New clients typically begin with an initial assessment to determine the current state of their books and identify any catch-up work required. The firm uses QuickBooks Online and communicates directly with clients’ accountants during tax season.

Tri-County Bookkeeping is based in Richmond, Virginia. Prospective clients can contact the firm directly through its website.
