Club Wyndham, the nation’s largest vacation ownership club, is pressing rewind this holiday season with the launch of the Holiday Rewind Suite, an immersive stay inspired by Christmas 1999 at Club Wyndham Midtown 45 in New York City. With help from ’90s sitcom icon and campaign spokesperson Jodie Sweetin, the brand is inviting travelers to trade streaming and scrolling for VHS movies, board games, disposable cameras and landline calls to Santa. The suite is bookable from November 6, 2026, to January 4, 2027, starting at $449 per night.
The suite arrives as parents look to recreate the holidays they grew up with. New research from Club Wyndham found 81% of parents often or almost always wish they could go back and experience the holidays the way they felt as a kid, with parents ranking the 1990s as the most nostalgic holiday decade. And that nostalgia is already shaping how families celebrate today: 93% of parents regularly or occasionally recreate elements of their childhood holidays for their own families.
“Holiday nostalgia hits differently because it’s tied to how we grew up — the traditions, the little rituals and the people we shared them with,” Sweetin said. “Club Wyndham took that feeling and turned it into a place you can actually step into. The Holiday Rewind Suite is such a fun way to revisit that era, but also to make new memories with the people you’re traveling with.”
The Holiday Rewind Suite: A Trip Back to 1999
The Holiday Rewind Suite brings the late ’90s back to life, surrounding guests with the sights, sounds and traditions that defined the holiday season inside a one-bedroom suite.
At the heart of the experience is a cozy, colorful living room inspired by the spaces where family and friends gathered during the holidays — long before everything became beige and Insta-worthy. Wood paneling, retro-patterned wallpaper, festive tinsel, vintage décor and classic holiday trimmings surround a twinkling tree, while a boxy television and a collection of VHS favorites set the stage for the ultimate holiday movie marathon.
The nostalgia continues throughout the suite. An acrylic landline phone in the hallway connects guests to a ’90s-inspired Holiday Rewind Hotline, featuring messages from Santa and a few other surprise callers, while a wall of old-school holiday cards evokes the tradition of sending seasonal greetings via snail mail. Wish-list-worthy toys from the era are sure to spark a few “I remember that!” moments, while board games bring back some friendly competition. In the kitchen, guests can make their own crispy cereal treats, pick a favorite from the mug tree for hot cocoa, and dig into a big, family-style bowl of popcorn with all the fixings.
The separate bedroom channels a quintessential late-’90s teen room, complete with a sticker-adorned headboard, glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling, retro-inspired posters, a lava lamp, a light-up aquarium, gel pens and stacks of throwback magazines. A CD player and a tower stocked with ’90s chart-toppers bring back the ritual of choosing what to play next. Even the bathroom gets the retro treatment, with an old-school soap dispenser, a ’90s-style bathmat and a faux ruffled shower curtain layered over the walk-in glass shower.
The Holidays Parents Wish They Could Rewind
Many of the suite’s details reflect what parents say they miss most about the holidays of their childhood. Family traditions and rituals top the list (44%), followed by home-cooked family recipes (39%), uninterrupted time together as a family (34%), and holiday movies and specials everyone watched together (32%). Parents also miss the way homes were decorated (29%), playing games or doing activities together (28%), and having fewer distractions from phones and screens (27%).
And that desire for more time together may be even more relevant now: 74% of parents say it is harder for families to be fully present with one another during the holidays today than when they were children.
“Vacations have always been about more than where you go — they’re about making time for the people who matter most,” said Annie Roberts, senior vice president of Club and Owner Services at Club Wyndham. “The Holiday Rewind Suite brings that idea to life, revisiting the simple things that made the holidays feel special before screens and social media were part of our everyday lives. We hope our owners and guests come for the nostalgia but stay for the time together and the new memories they make.”
