What happened?

Shares of online freelance marketplace Fiverr (NYSE: FVRR) jumped 6.3% in the morning session after the company reported third-quarter 2026 financial results and raised its full-year guidance ranges.

According to a company press release, Fiverr lifted its full-year 2026 financial guidance ranges behind AutoDS performance and disciplined cost controls. Projects of $1,000 or more accounted for 16% of completed projects' gross order amount over the trailing twelve months. Fiverr also disclosed generating $9.5 million in operating cash flow and $9.4 million in free cash flow, ending the quarter with $316.2 million in cash, cash equivalents, deposits, and marketable securities. Investors welcomed the raised annual outlook and consistent cash generation as evidence of strengthening operational efficiency.

What is the market telling us

Fiverr’s shares are very volatile and have had 20 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 3 months ago when the stock dropped 19.4% on the news that the company reported disappointing second-quarter results and sharply lowered its full-year financial outlook.

The company missed Wall Street's expectations for both revenue and earnings. Revenue for the quarter fell 10% year-over-year to $97.8 million, while adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.50. Compounding the issue, Fiverr saw its active buyers decline by 20.6% from the prior year to 2.7 million, signaling challenges in attracting and retaining customers. The primary catalyst for the stock's steep decline was the revised forecast. Fiverr slashed its full-year revenue guidance to $364 million at the midpoint, a 9% reduction from its prior forecast of $400 million. The company also lowered its adjusted EBITDA outlook, pointing to a weaker-than-expected business environment ahead.

Fiverr is down 56.6% since the beginning of the year, and at $8.55 per share, it is trading 62.6% below its 52-week high of $22.86 from October 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Fiverr’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $50.19.
